And on the type of the website. I mean a banner ad that is inviting people to hire a web designer will get less clicks that an ad that promises that a blogger can earn money. Nowadays Google PageRank isn't what it used to be years ago, when I remember I had a website for link swapping and was doing just fine. Maybe trustworthy is the thingy what everyone should look for. I mean... a link from a clean website, that has been around since a couple of years, high PageRank (when I mean high, I mean more then 3-4) counts (imoo) much more then 100 bad quality links. But people feel comfortable with everything they can spam with then "hey, why was I penalised by Google?", Yada, Yada. I think that depends on the the niche. And on the type of the website.
